Blinded by the Light: Modern Car Headlights

Driving at night used to be quite pleasant. Now, every second car coming the other way is equipped with headlights seemingly salvaged from a lighthouse. It's like looking directly into a solar flare.

I flash them to let them know their high beams are on. In response, they flash their *actual* high beams, illuminating my entire skeleton like an X-ray machine. Those weren't the high beams. Those were just their normal 'dipped' lights.

I don't know what they're trying to see that requires 40,000 lumens of pure white LED hatred, but it's completely unnecessary for popping down to the dairy for a bottle of milk.
